As the name suggests, headspace is about what’s happening in your head. They cover a range of topics, including mental health and alcohol and other drug issues.
headspace is a virtual and real-life place to get information. The online site has maps of the real-life sites – there are 30 headspace centres around Australia. It’s free, centres are open at different hours and you don’t have to make appointments to drop in. Pretty handy, huh?
If you can’t get to a centre, the online community is definitely worth a visit. Loads of people chatting, in their own words, about how they’re dealing with things like depression, anxiety and drug misuse. You’re invited to comment about your own experiences or offer suggestions. At eheadspace.org.au you can chat online, send an email or find the phone number to talk to a qualified mental health professional.
Mental health is the single biggest health issue facing young people today. One of the best things about headspace is it’s driven by a panel of young people who help keep the organisation focused on what’s important to you.
